Tree wisdom

Yes, trees adore the sun
but their roots need darkness lest they wither within the hour;

and what nourishes one part of you
untranslated and untransformed, can hurt another part of you

I know this is hard to believe
I am infinitely patient
Take your time
Every seed needs time to break open
before it can turn into a tree

On second chances

When someone asks you to give them a second chance
before you say no, remember the second chances you have asked for and received
before you say yes, discern the integrity of their request

The knife sharpener

The stone grinds parts of the knife away;
the knife’s emptiness makes it sharper
the knife’s fullness makes it duller
