Ownership

Righteous indignation has owned me
and I want to return my power to you, O Lord
so that no one and nothing else can claim me, be my master

Nothing has claimed you, says the Lord gently;
instead, you have claimed many others to be your God

Compass gone

So deeply through the thicket,
bramble catching on my clothes
compass gone, all is chaos:
O God, be my hope

and better yet, observe yourself observe

The Independent One

Do not measure me by the hope you have, says the Lord,
for that can disappear at any time;
I am independent of your hope

Do not measure me by the faith you have,
for that, too, waxes and wanes;
I am independent of your faith

Do not measure me by the love you have,
for your love does not determine my love;
I am independent of your love
