I don’t close the doors to your opportunities, says the Lord;
I close the doors to your excuses

I needed help and you came
pulling me from the mire
and in that moment when your hand grasped mine:
Somewhere, far off and not far off
a galaxy exploded, came back together

There once were three trailer homes. One trailer home was crammed full with stuff – to the ceiling – but had open windows. The second trailer home had an extremely nice interior but the windows were closed. The third trailer home was empty with the windows open. One summer day, it was record hot and all three trailer homes were sweltering. A cool breeze blew across the land, but the first trailer home was so densely crowded with stuff that very little breeze could go through. The second trailer home, while looking very nice, did not receive any of the cool breeze because of its closed windows. The third trailer home – which was open and empty – received the breeze and was penetrated by it, as the wind blew freely within.

After the world comes crashing down
walk upon it with a prayer:
God is my totality and nothing else

I wither without you
my firmest ground falls from beneath me should you turn but one thought away
all strength is dust, flung to the wind
I wither without you

I feel so alone, I say
I feel so exposed
I feel so guarded
You are standing on the shoulders of giants, God says
You are protected
You are called to openness

I heal more deeply than you break, says the Lord:
Be not afraid of brokenness
