We’re making it out of here alive: yes

We’re making it out of here alive: yes
the jaws snapped shut without us
death-paths turn to life-paths;
we run hand in hand, hearts take to flight

God-looking

Sometimes the cup runs empty
and you tip the cup back for the last drop;
so do I do with your heart, says the Lord,
looking for your compassion

I wake up in the night and you lull me back to sleep

I wake up in the night and you lull me back to sleep
your tender touch upon my furrowed heart
soothing, soothing, soothing

Please take off your armor

“Please take off your armor,” God says.
“I’m not wearing any,” I say.
“Can you feel my touch?” God asks gently.
I pause. “No,” I say.
“If you want to feel my touch, please take off your armor,” God says.

Gold-gleaming church, silent and empty,
rays of light making love to stained glass,
ecstasy filling the space to overflowing

Gain can be loss;
Wise is the one who sees through the layers
