When you desire that one thing

When you desire that one thing
all other desires are subordinate.
This could be the death of you.
This could be the life of you.

Nothing knows the power of community
Nothing knows the impermanence of community

Flower bouquet, I

At first, I am overwhelmed by beauty
I am blinded
slowly, though, my eyes adjust
and I start to see the subtle illness
the subtle death
the subtle imperfection
and all of this gives me pause for praise, comfort, and relief:
Nothing is immune from brokenness
not even the most overwhelmingly beautiful
not even the most overwhelmingly beautiful
