I am your heart

I am not on top of your heart, says the Lord,
or beside your heart, says the Lord,
or even in your heart, says the Lord –
I am not prepositional: “in”, “beside”, “near to”
Listen to me – I am:
I am the core heart of all who you are and yearn to become
I am the core heart of your dreams
I am the core heart of your you
I am not peripheral
I am the core
I am not in your heart
I am your heart

Feel me: I am your heart
Walk the earth knowing I am your heart

Trust me more

Not just higher;
trust me deeper
and broader
and inner
Not just your eyes;
trust me with your smell
and taste
and sensing;
fill your senses until trust consumes them all
fill your space planes until I am everywhere

A caution about others’ jealousy

Tend to them with compassion
– for what holes they have! What holes! –
and keep watch that you do not yourself fall in

Companions

All the earth needs a companion:
the horizon to the sky
the trees to the wind
the hawk to the cliff
the bee to the flower
me to you:
sacredness

The purpose of procrastination

Procrastination has its place –
it is not meant to be the swath
but a precision tool

On breaking up

It is compassionate to let go
if hanging on leads to lifeless wounds

The length of history is important
but not as important as the quality of future

Walking away is not running away
if you faced the demons and know they will remain

Do not shake the dust off your feet
but gently wipe your shoes, then wipe theirs:
Walk away with compassion

Seeking in the night

In the night I look for safety
and seek until I find
O God, O God, O God

I am lonely, says the Lord
missing you

Guarantee

The question is not, will you die
for that is a guarantee,
question is, will you die with compassion
for that is certainly not
