Not all the eggs hatched: Duck Spirituality

I
Not all the eggs hatched.
There were two left in the nest.
Eggshell fragments were cracked open everywhere on the ground
except for the two.
All the ducks were gone and these two eggs, cold –
so much love and effort and no hatching!
Not everything passes ideally.
No matter. Mama took the ducklings to the pond
as one phase turns to another.
Keep going.

II
Something came in the night and broke open the first egg
revealing the yolky center;
The unhatched eggs still find their way back to the circle
as something is fed: Loss is not loss
