My power is in my emptiness
My humility is in my emptiness
May I empty onto empty, O Lord

Soft, tender rain

Soft, tender rain
stroking the earth
unafraid caress

Be confident in your face, says the Lord

Be confident in your face, says the Lord –
you do not need a mask,
for it blocks your true power

We’ll make do

For every hole you have, we’ll make do, says the Lord:
For every type of starvation
for every type of laceration
for every type of amputation
we’ll make do:
For the end is not the end
loss is not loss
death is not death –
stay alert to how I work,
stay responsive and you’ll see
we’ll make do.
