Sometimes life doesn’t give you all the pieces

Sometimes life doesn’t give you all the pieces to build your house;
you lack the wood, or the nails, or even the strength to build it;
Keep returning to me, says the Lord,
for I am not afraid of missing pieces –
out of the nothing, something: that is what I do

Because the journey and self-knowledge are inextricably linked

You will not know who you are until you try, says the Lord
until you succeed
until you fail
until you grasp
until you fall short;
for the journey is not about the flawless journey
but about how intimate you are with your path;
it is your choice whether to be intimate

The tree of life – a reimagining

Climb the tree of life
swing from her branches;
there are no apples
for you are her fruit

Myriad forms

I can come in abundance
I can come in drought;
cling not to the way I look, says the Lord
or you will miss my myriad forms

Exhaustion burial

Exhaustion heavy
thick layers, cement slowly drying
me, crying underneath

When you can laugh at yourself
that, too, is prayer

The wounds, watched

Come, come to me, says the Lord –
then the healing will proceed as planned
then the wounds, watched, will heal
