Beyond stereotypes

Compassion is not about being nice;
compassion is about self-control
and using fire to cleanse, not to destroy

I never disappear, says the Lord

I never disappear, says the Lord
so if you don’t find me on the surface
find me in the depths

O God of union
heal my fragmented soul
for eternity is but one everlasting yes
and I, in shards, am far from it

All the ways you comfort me!

All the ways you comfort me!
All the ways that words become hands
and hands become sweet, soothing balm,
all the ways word becomes flesh

The undiscerning moment

Without food or touch the spirit falls to sleep,
hibernating until more favorable conditions appear –
if these don’t come, the spirit can sleep forever
but the slightest scent arouses voracious hunger;
this is the most precarious time, for it will consume anything
