I am an author and activist in realms of justice, compassion, and spirituality. I love connecting with people who are committed to actualizing the equality of all humans.
I also love to spiritually walk with others in an ancient practice called Spiritual Direction. In this, I listen carefully to the Voice within you and accompany your journey spiritual healing, growth, and transformation. My prayer language is that of the body, compassion, justice, and contemplative spiritual practice.
I am mixed race, and for my spiritual activism work I go by my Chinese name, Meisaan (“may-son”). What does a sacred activist do? I use the wellspring of compassion and Spirit to propel myself and others deeper along the paths of healing and justice. It is a manner of living by which I actively work to make Spirit tangible. This includes providing spiritual direction, giving retreats, creating spoken word meditations, and more. I was recently in a film festival as a film’s spoken word artist. This is the 8-minute film.
I am also an internationally published children’s author through Simon & Schuster (BIRD and ALL THAT I CAN FIX), a regular on Wisconsin Public Radio, and a justice activist on Facebook; for these activities, I go by my English name, Crystal Chan. I am passionate about making space for all the various facets people bring with them, and even more passionate about making space for the infinite facets of Spirit.
I love sitting at Lake Michigan, which is across the street from my apartment.
